For the past two days, we’ve had dismal snowstorms graying our days, muddying our roads, and otherwise increasing the somberness of our leafless landscapes during a time of isolation.

But, then came this morning, which is a beautiful, sunny prelude to Easter and the season of rebirth. It helps to think of Maine “spring” weather symbolically: full of darkenings that make what will come seem even brighter, more beautiful, and more meaningful.
