ABOUT THIS SITE
This website features some of Richard (“Dick”) Leighton’s photographic images and essays. In 2015, he and his wife Barbara retired to Brooklin, Maine, where they had had a seasonal residence for more than 30 years. Barbara now is a landscaper and gardener; Dick now is mostly an outdoor photographer and writer. (Prior to their retirements, Barbara was an architect and Dick was a trial lawyer.)

The Home section of this website contains a seasonal image that is changed at least when the next season arrives or when we get tired of looking at the same seasonal image.
The Exhibits section of this website contains ever-changing examples of Dick’s photographs from his shows and other publications.
The Journal section of this website contains Dick's regular (often daily) “In the Right Place” posts of images and comments. These popular posts also appear on Dick's FaceBook and Instagram sites, but often in shorter form there. Most of his posts chronicle life and nature in Down East Maine and are the top-of-mind "notes" for a book of photo-essays that never will get written.
The Journal section also contains occasional longer pieces on special subjects with numerous images, as well as Dick’s monthly posting of "Postcards From Down East Maine," which is a popular photo-essay on events in the most recent month.
The Monthly Column section of this website contains Dick's most recent monthly photo-essays in the award-winning Ellsworth American newspaper, published in Ellsworth, Maine, the Hancock County seat.
